William Hyslop Sumner Burgwyn (1845-1913) served in the 35th North Carolina Regiment during the Civil War and became a prisoner of the Union Army. He later graduated from the University of North Carolina and Harvard Law School and became a lawyer in Baltimore, Md. and Henderson, N.C. From the description of W.H.S.
